It's been an easy few days for generating thankfulness. As much as I appreciate fun, family-focused weeks like this, I also love the challenge of searching for simple things to be grateful for during difficult, less exciting times.
I'm thankful that Grammy arrived safely for her extended "surprise" visit. The four miniature adults in our house did not know she was coming. It didn't take long for Coo to unearth her Purple People for Grammy's appreciation.
I'm thankful that Righty remained unscathed during his first-time solo pumpkin carving [with a very sharp knife!]
I'm thankful for Mr J's boundless ideas, bursts of creativity, and [now] happy energy after a brief illness.
I'm also thankful for his genuine thoughtfulness in choosing to spend time with his adoring younger sister, by reading to her.
I'm thankful for our houseful of friends and family, celebrating Bonfire Night together. It was fun, loud, and slightly pyromaniacal. Baked potatoes and vegetable chilli were eaten, as were home-baked treats: pumpkin pie, pumpkin cake with cream cheese icing, and apple cake with homemade custard sauce.
I'm thankful that no one was hurt and nothing burst into flames after Dan decided to put a few fireworks into the bonfire as a grand finale. I'll forgive him. I'm thankful Bonfire Night -and the need for excessive firework displays- only comes around once a year! Behold the culprit...
