Ynyslas

Thursday morning in Wales began quite typically with enormous amounts of food [which hadn't yet arrived when this photo was taken!] and coffee.

After our lingering breakfast at the Quarry Cafe in Machynlleth, we visited Ynyslas.

We scrambled through the sand dunes, some of us barefoot, to a rocky beach where an expanse of wild waves greeted us.  Cardigan Bay, known in Welsh as Bae Ceredigion, stretches out into the Irish Sea. The three boys waded into the bay, but Coo found it way too cold, and stood shivering in the chilling wind, wrapped in Nanny's jacket and Grammy's scarf.

Dan and I posed for some photos, seeing as we never bothered to have a proper engagement shoot during our engagement, eleven [!?!] years ago.  Our outfits certainly fit the occasion, as did our hair, styled by the strong sea breezes.

"The chalet", belonging to our close family friends, is one of Lefty and Righty's most favourite places, so it was very appropriate that we were able to spend their birthday here.  They loved every minute of this day, especially tea time and the cakes that followed!

  1. I think I recognize this corner table. It seems the last time I saw it, it had a proper veggie burger on a bun with a side potato stuffed with Welch cheddar sitting on the table. Made me wish I was there.
