Petitions

I've been asking people to sign this petition: http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/midwives/
(UK residents only)

I don't have much faith in petitions, or government, for that matter. Does a politician feel even the slightest hesitation of conscience as he signs into being a law that includes some limiting of the legitimate freedoms of the people he governs?

Of course, they are trying to see all sides of an issue; and, they are to some degree probably trying to protect.

But they are not taking into account the ebb and flow of life. Life is not something to be fenced in protectively, trying to shelter it from every danger known to man. Life is to be lived wisely, but also adventurously, with advice from those who have gone before. I would rather follow the sharp, slippery stepping stones across the raging torrent of the river to the other side, than sit on the riverbank safely watching the water.
